Frequently Asked Questions

Basics of Escape Entertainment

Are we REALLY locked in a room?

No!  That is not safe and not legal.  We will give you the challenge but you will always have the ability to leave the room if you need to.  Additionally, all rooms are monitored at all times both with video and audio surveillance.  This is for your safety and so that our staff can be on top of your needs to ensure that you have the best experience possible.

Groups of participants under the age of 16 must also have an adult present and in the room for supervision.  The only exception will be for team building that is arranged with our staff separate.  In this case, the adult must be on site at all times but does not have to participate.  At no time will we allow children under 16 to be unattended in our lobby.  Our staff can not watch over children while you play and still ensure you have a great experience and our facility is a historic building and not appropriate for young children.  An escape room is an immersive entertainment experience and great cerebral fun.  Did I lose you?  You will work at a group/team to dive in deep to the scenario given and find clues, solve puzzles and achieve a group goal.  It feels intense and the hour will pass quickly. Some rooms will be linear.  Solve one puzzle at a time to get to the goal together as a team.  Other rooms will have several different things to solve simultaneously so that teams can divide and conquer.

Who likes Escape Entertainment?

Who Doesn't?

So many people love escape entertainment.  If you like playing games, competing, working together, thinking outside of the box, having new adventures and spending time with friends and family, this is for you.  It is also a great way to get to know someone better and make new friends.  We do not allow children under 8 and those with handicaps that have mobility limitations should call to discuss so that we can ensure your experience is positive.  By its nature, immersive escape rooms can be very physical.  But we will do our best to accommodate.

What is a Private Room? Do I want one?

Some people are really bothered by the idea of playing a room with people they don't know.  However, Escape Rooms are a terrific way to learn a lot about yourself and get to know others.  We list all of our rooms as publicly available.  That means you might reserve two spots in the room but someone else can reserve additional spots for the same playing time and you will form a team to solve the room together.  Some people don't like this.  So we have some simple suggestions to help you.

  • When booking you will be given an option to pay a little extra fee to secure this as a private room.  This will be a sliding scale fee.  If you only reserve 2 spots, the fee will be higher than if you book 4.  This helps us meet our overhead needs and gives you the experience you want.
  • Get a team together of your choosing and book together.  This will defer the cost to all in the group and you will have a hand selected group of friends/family members to work with.  In your group, follow our recommendations and include people that are of a different mind than you.  Different skill sets will bring different advantages.

Alternatively, you can meet new people by playing with others from the online booking system.  Rooms will have a minimum occupancy to run but once met, if no one else books for that room, you might get to play it with a small group.  However, in many of the rooms that is not an advantage as it is harder to complete rooms with only 2 guests.

Social Media Reviews

We really appreciate your business and like many businesses, we value your reviews. We will post your group photo on our Facebook page unless you decline. Many people rely on reviews when making their entertainment decisions. Therefore, we really hope you will share with others the experience you have at Key to Escape. We welcome your suggestions as well and will do our best to address issues in the moment that might occur. However, we can not and do not wish to control the reviews of our guests.

From time to time any business will get a review that is overtly negative for reasons that ESCAPE most business owners. Inaccurate information will be included and it can have an impact on future bookings. We ask that you use a wide angle lens when reading reviews and ask any questions you have before booking. This is my philosophy for any business. One bad review impacts small businesses much more than twenty great reviews and sometimes that bad review was from a person who was asked to leave because they were causing trouble. Our goal is to make sure all of our guests have a great time. However, our facility is a historic treasure and we will have expected conduct rules for the safety of our guests and our facility.

Review us on Google, Facebook or Trip Adviser.  We really appreciate your help as we grow.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

Price:

The cost to develop, design, and run rooms is more than most people think.  That is why many facilities keep the same rooms for YEARS!... We strive to cycle our rooms more frequently but do not skimp on your experience.  Therefore, our price is competitive with the industry and we don't use discounting often.  We will not use GROUPON or other discounting vehicles but will consider group rates for groups over 15.

Regular admission is $25/person.  Additional fee can be paid on a sliding scale to secure the room for just your group or you can save money and allow others to book in empty spots.

Cancellation Policy:

Since rooms are booked in advance, last minute cancellations typically make a room unavailable for others.  Therefore, any cancellation 24 hours before the start of your scheduled appointment will be refunded in full.  We can not allow cancellations within 24 hours of appointment but will review requests on a case by case basis to determine if we can fill the spots and issue a gift certificate for later visits to guests needing to change their booking time close to their scheduled appointment.  If rooms can not be utilized by others, we can not issue credit.

Age Limits:

Escape rooms are intense environments.  Developmentally, it is not ideal for children under 8 to participate as their attention span is not appropriate for an hour long event.  Some adults may struggle.  That said, if you want to bring a child younger into the room, all participants must pay admission and you would have to have a private room.  This ensures that it will not impact the experience of other guests if your child gets bored.  Adults must supervise anyone under 16 at all times.  We will hold guest liable for damages to property that are not normal wear and tear especially if children are not adequately supervised.
