Employment At Key to Escape

What is a Game Host?

The role of the GAME HOST is an essential part of the escape room experience.  While we build amazing rooms and put a great deal of effort and theory into game design, the role of the GAME HOST is to always ensure that the guest experience is the best it can be.  We are in the business of entertaining guests.  Unlike some escape rooms that boast about how few people can "win" in their rooms, we know that with a good GAME HOST, every customer can walk away from the experience excited to return again and an escape room enthusiasts  for life.  This role has a direct impact on the guest experience as well as the industry and we are very selective to ensure that our hosts are representing our love for the experiences we offer to our guests.

Be over the top, be theatrical, have fun and get paid for helping our guests have fun too.

Our team members are empowered to create incredible interactions and remarkable moments during all aspects of our guests' experiences.  These interactions span from booking to debriefing and we even offer opportunities to be part of marketing and game design as you grow in your role.  We seek growth minded, positive individuals that will thrive in a collaborative environment allowing opportunities for innovative experiences, process enhancements and creativity to drive business success and growth through guest experiences.

Game Host Role:

  • Greet and check in guests.  Even our entry to be building is elaborate.
  • Explain the process and get customers comfortable with how escape rooms work.
  • Explain and enforce rules (You must be willing to step in and stop any dangerous or harmful behavior)
  • Get into it!  Provide introductions to the room that are immersive and help set the stage for the experience the guest is about to have.  The more animated and enthusiastic you are, the more they will enjoy their experience.  We start you with a script but we ask that you eventually put in your own flare.
  • After the game, debriefing is essential.  Recap game highlights and close the customer experience with a photo.   When the game is over, guests need to be as excited as when they went into the experience.
  • Reset the room for the next customer ensuring that everything is working well.  An eye for detail is essential.  Forgetting a lock or misplacing an item can spoil the experience for the next group.
  • Identify props that need repair and do minor repairs or touch up in your downtime.  Ensure that electrical/computer repair needs are communicated to our Chief Engineer immediately to discuss work-arounds or have things fixed immediately.
  • Basic cleaning of lobby, rooms, and bathrooms is expected.
  • Other tasks may be assigned as needed and we like staff that are eager to keep busy.
  • Don't forget to HAVE FUN!

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with the world of escape rooms is preferred but not essential as we do things a bit differently.
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • One year of customer service/guest service experience preferred
  • Minimum high school graduate preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong team work mentality to pitch in and help others when possible
  • Excellent guest service ability.  We use the term guest for a reason.  They are guests in our facility and are to be treated accordingly.
  • Ability to manage difficult situations like stopping rooms while still preserving the guest experience is a tough ask but you will need to be able to enforce rules in a way that does not offend or anger guests.  If situations need a higher level of attention, refer quickly to owners to ensure that the guest gets the message from the top.
  • Enthusiastic personality while also able to work hard.  There is always something to do.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to be on time to our facility in Statesville (28677)
  • Theatrics are encouraged.  We use costumes and big personalities a lot to create an experience guests want to share with others.

What We Offer:
