No! That is not safe and not legal. We will give you the challenge but you will always have the ability to leave the room if you need to. Additionally, all rooms are monitored at all times both with video and audio surveillance. This is for your safety and so that our staff can be on top of your needs to ensure that you have the best experience possible.
Groups of participants under the age of 15 must also have an adult present and in the room for supervision. The only exception will be for team building that is arranged with our staff separate. In this case, the adult must be on site at all times but does not have to participate. At no time will we allow children under 15 to be unattended in our lobby.
An escape room is an immersive entertainment experience and great cerebral fun. Did I lose you? You will work at a group/team to dive in deep to the scenario given and find clues, solve puzzles and achieve a group goal. It feels intense and the hour will pass quickly. Our rooms are non-linear. That means that there is a lot to do and while one group is working on one puzzle, others should keep exploring in the room because there are a lot of puzzles to solve. You might find something but not use it right away. The scenario will unfold. So try not to get stuck for too long on anything. Make note of what you found or what you need and keep moving. There are several different things to solve simultaneously so that teams can divide and conquer.

An excellent use of Escape Room entertainment is related to Teambuilding. Companies big and small all struggle to find creative ways to help teams of employees be more effective working together. Similarly, teen organizations also find that teambuilding helps break down barriers to team development. We have a staff that can facilitate this experience so that you are not just playing a game but really investing in your employees. Contact us below to discuss your business needs so we can develop a plan that will work for your unique needs.
WHO DOESN'T?
So many people love escape entertainment. If you like playing games, competing, working together, thinking outside of the box, having new adventures and spending time with friends and family, you will love escape games. It is also a great way to get to know someone better and make new friends. The only people I know that say they don't like escape rooms are people who have never tried them or who have only been to escape rooms that were poorly designed. You do not need prior knowledge or experience to play. Come as you are and be ready to have fun.
DATE NIGHT AT AN ESCAPE ROOM
Plato said "You can learn more about a person in one hour of play than a lifetime of conversation". That's why stumbled into escape rooms when I was single at 50. No matter your age, escape rooms are great dating tools. You will have fun and get to know each other with an amazing shared experience.
YOUNG CHILDREN
Our games and facility is designed for players 12 and older. While we allow families to bring in younger children (8yo minimum), cognitive play on this level is not developmentally appropriate for very young children. There are other facilities in the area that have games more suited to younger children but since our owner is a pediatric psychiatric professional, we know the limits of the attention of young children. Frankly, many adults feel cognitively drained after the hour long adventure. Under the age of 15, we require an adult in the room for youth events. Our building is a National Registry historic site and not designed in a child friendly manner. We have a responsibility to preserve the history of our building and always reserve the right to stop play if players are not behaving as adults.
All rooms are private rooms. That means, you can have your friends and family join you but we will not put strangers in the room with you. Some escape facilities fill every spot possible in the room by combining groups. We personally do not like doing rooms with strangers and would not put that on you for profit. In this time of COVID and other concerns, we also feel that you should have the right to know those you are in a room with and feel comfortable with who you are working closely with. If you want to bring others, simply book the minimum of two people to hold the room and let your friends pay for their spots when they arrive.
ALL PRIVATE ROOMS, ALL THE TIME.
Most small businesses rely on reviews from guests to help others searching the internet make decisions about where they will spend their entertainment dollars. We do to! We really hope you will share with others the experience you have at Key to Escape. We especially appreciate GOOGLE reviews as they are seen most.
Following us on social media will help you get discounts, know when events or new community hunts are available, and help us grow our following as you share your experience. We really appreciate you taking the time to follow us.
If you ever have a negative experience, we really want to know. Please know that we will do our best to make it right. Contact us directly at this link to the owners email.
Price:
We believe strongly that we provide a value added entertainment experience and we know you have the choice where you spend your hard earned dollars. Similarly, we have put a lot of effort into making our experience the very best we can and it does cost more than escape facilities that don't include the tech or intricate game design. We want an experience that is worth a few extra dollars to offer to our guests.
Admission is currently $39/person. We require all booking to be made online or by phone and to secure a room, two spots must be paid in full in advance. If you have additional people joining your party that want to pay separately, we can take credit card payments on site. For safety reasons, we are a cash free facility as much as possible. Please plan ahead.
Cancellation Policy:
Since rooms are booked in advance, last minute cancellations typically make a room unavailable for others. Therefore, any cancellation 24 hours before the start of your scheduled appointment will be refunded in full. We can not allow cancellations within 24 hours of appointment but will review requests on a case by case basis to determine if we can fill the spots and issue a gift certificate for later visits to guests needing to change their booking time close to their scheduled appointment. If rooms can not be utilized by others, we can not issue credit.

That said, if you want to bring a child younger into the room, all participants must pay admission and you would have to have a private room. This ensures that it will not impact the experience of other guests if your child gets bored. Adults must supervise anyone under 16 at all times. We will hold guest liable for damages to property that are not normal wear and tear especially if children are not adequately supervised.
Groups of participants under the age of 16 must also have an adult present and in the room for supervision. The only exception will be for team building that is arranged with our staff separate. In this case, the adult must be on site at all times but does not have to participate. At no time will we allow children under 16 to be unattended in our lobby. Our staff can not watch over children while you play and still ensure you have a great experience and our facility is a historic building and not appropriate for young children.
GAME PLAY WILL STOP!
Please do not come to play intoxicated. If group members become destructive, we reserve the right to stop the game at any time. We typically will provide you with a warning but our building and the work we do is very special and you need brain power and not brute force to be successful.
